We are here. We are warm and well fed and coffied. We have been to the State Archives and had a good day (yesterday). It was fairly easy to drive up and get set up.
That being said, we drove up separately as we couldn't get the connection for the tail lights in the toad to work. We are apparently good for water and sewer and electricity, but the cable TV isn't working and we are not sure why. Marcia bought some DVD's last night to entertain herself, but midway through the DVD the picture went wonky.
There is supposed to be a way to put water in the toilet (cushions the blow and stick factor for big jobs), but we haven't found it yet.
We have purchased a few more of those easy to remove hooks. The small space requires us to put away things right after use and to move some things repeatedly. We can manage that.
The big thing is the bed. It is in the back of the coach. We pulled out the tempurpedic bed (or the guys did it for us) from the old RV and put it on top of the dinette that folds down to make a bed. For us it is a permanent bed. The mattress just barely squeezed into the space. It is so tight that it cannot be dressed with sheets, so I have put a topper on it and then layer the flat sheet and comforter over that. Because it is a bit high, it requires some effort to get into. Marcia uses the little step. I am the captive sleeper next to the back window. I thought I might get cold, but so far the cold is a blessing. I'm not so sure about warm weather camping for two.
Marcia manages to position herself in the bed, sometimes grabbing onto my hand or my hip to keep from rolling out again. Since the light controls for the rear of the coach are right next to her, we are occasionally more illuminated than we might wish. Last night she taped a dish over them and it decreased the number of times we were flashed.
Once we are all tucked in it's not so bad. We have agreed to sync our bladders, so if one gets up to pee, two get up to pee. She sits in the front of the coach waiting for me-no need to try to get back into bed until I am in bed.
In our lovely huge bed at home we can flail about all we want without any effect on the other. Not so our allotted space in the RV bed. There is a certain amount of width each of us can occupy an no allowance for movement beyond. Speaking for myself, I am doing rotisserie sleeping. I might get in a few hours before the hip complains and I need to turn. Before you know it it is time for a pee session and on it goes through the night. Since I am so tired, I go to bed fairly early. Since I am so tired, I am in bed late. Long time devoted to sleep efforts.
Stella seems comfortable in the passenger floor in the front of the coach. It makes just her favorite kind of den. However, when all the getting up happens, she thinks she might be on duty again and has to supervise. To our way of thinking, it is not time for her to occupy precious floor space, so Marcia admonishes and cookie bribes her to get back in her bed.
In summary, this is probably the perfect camper for one tall person who doesn't care that much for TV. Also perfect for the couple who has great communication and coping skills, or want to work on those skills.
We are on our way to Aunt Alva's today. She says she is flexible about when she eats lunch, so we won't rush.
