Lighthouse at Meares Point

This was my favorite stop on the way home from Tillamook.
I could watch the water swirl around these rocks for a very long time.

Sunset at Seal Rock

Highlights of the Day-Sea Lions and Antique Cars

We saw sea lions all day today. What another thrill! They are a bit harder to photograph than whales as there is no predicting when they will pop up. However, sometimes they seem as interested in us as we are in them, so they look back.

I was about to catch the dunes when these folks came around the bend. They seem quite happy.

Sunset on the Oregon Coast

It was a soft blue, pink and gold sunset tonight. Stella and I enjoyed it.

Whale Tales

We saw whales all day. Though we went to several places along the coast no more than 25 miles north of the campground, at each place we saw whales. It was thrilling. At first I had binocs to my eyes and there was little sense in trying to photo even with my telephoto lens.

At our last stop, I was happily amusing myself shooting crashing waves and scenery.
When I noticed that the rocks were moving...
not the ones I was standing on, but the ones partially submerged by the incoming tide.
Then, someone near me said, "There it is!", and sure enough
From my vast experience of all day today, I knew that we would probably see two or three spouts and then the rolling back and finally the tail. So, since these guys were alot closer to shore, and I had the routine down...
I got some shots of whale tale. The only thing I regret was that I had taken off my telephoto lens to shoot wider angle. Tomorrow, I will have that telephoto in hand.
