Crossing the Island

From Parkville we made our way to Route 4, going through the little town of Coombs. Though I have no photographic proof, our friends will verify that there is a little store in Coombs called Coombsbaya that sells hemp products and goats graze on the roof. No joke!

In Port Alberni we were reminded that we were indeed living on the edge. Think volcanoes, wild rivers, glacial lakes, and if you dare, think tsunami....

think dusty roads...

I suppose you could think bears as well. We didn't, and we had gravlox in the cooler-I had gravlox breath. However, we saw no bears.

think cedar grove...

When I first saw this sign, I was driving and didn't get to fully read it. I was thinking it was a forest fire warning. Later, it dawned...

We really were on the edge!
