Not only have we seen our first float home inside and out, we actually dined there-all three of us.
Pat and Janna, or T&T brought along their Maggie (Schipperke) to meet us at the RV park. Though it has been a year, Stella seemed to recognize them and Maggie and didn't have to do the usual introductory rituals. Actually, she was so anxious to get out the door to greet them that she did a nose dive in the gravel stones. She and Maggie had some good chases around the RV as we humans also took up where we left off last summer on the other side of the continent.
We took the dogs to a dyke on the Fraser river so they could run some energy off before heading for the float house. Maggie is seen here with Janna getting a reward for being "down". Maggie has a hobby -agility. She has ribbons too! We'll get to see her perform later this week.
On to the float home. It has wonderful features.
Here is the view from the living room. Though it is only 1,300sq ft, it feels more expansive. As you enter, there is a kitchen dining area. If you crouch down and enter the crawlspace, there is a basement of sorts. Up one little flight of stairs is the living room with view of the river. Another flight and there is an office/TV room, and yet another flight takes us to the bedroom. There are two bathrooms. On the top level, there is a door to an outdoor deck with umbrella table (weighted down with bricks) and chairs (weighted down with us). We would have eaten dinner here, but there were threatening clouds. The house is charming enough on its own, but additional features include a beaver family in residence next door, and all the wild birds and migrating salmon in season. There are tides that lift and lower the house about 15 feet. I'll try to get photos if I get permission.
We dined on salmon with dill sauce, squash, new potatoes, fresh corn and tossed salad with raspberries. All organic and local. All quite yummy.
We have a few adventures planned for now, and will get along with others as time permits. It's good to be here and really good to have friends here!
